Drosophila (Sophophora) hideakii Gao et Toda, 2009
Remark: This species shows general morphological similarity to those of the D. obscura subgroup. This species especially resembles D. bifasciata from the Palearctic Region and D. imaii Moriwaki et Okada, 1967 from Japan, in having the following characters in combination: male foreleg first tarsomere distinctly longer than second one; aedeagus apically triangularly expanded in lateral view, with median membrane hirsute; oviscapt apically roundish, convex ventrally. In addition, this species resembles D. imaii in having the median, black, longitudinal stripe shaped like longneck bottle on the scutum. However, it differs from D. bifasciata and D. imaii in the cercus ventrally narrowing, and the median piece of tenth sternite relatively large, triangular (in D. bifasciata and D. imaii, cercus ventrally not narrowing; median piece of tenth sternite smaller, shaped like narrow, long plate).
Distribution: Malaysia (Sabah).
